& ELECTRIC BOXES

“I am so excited to announce that I have been commissioned by Worcester BID to take part in a very special art project around Worcester City Centre. This is to help upcycle existing infrastructure around the city including the fingerposts signage and electric boxes. There are so many other things that will be linked with this project, and I am looking forward to every single element coming together.”

‘PICKED PEARS’

The pears and pear blossom represent the agriculture of Worcester and how before the Tything existed, it was originally fields for harvesting fruit. There are also three random gold pears within the design on both the fingerpost and electric box that represent the pears on Worcester's coat of arms.

‘MONET MUSE’

Claude Monet was the inspiration behind this post as Catt has always admired his work. She wanted to create and leave something within the city that was a nod to the legends of art history. Especially due to the location of this fingerpost being opposite the University’s Art House.

A few meters down from this fingerpost, there is also an electric box that Catt has completed. This design was also inspired by Monet however Catt wanted to put her own twist onto it by adding a detailed illustration.

‘CONNECTIONS’

Inspired by the architecture of Worcester railway bridge linking Malvern and Hereford together, the pattern-work and colour palette of this fingerpost reflects the importance of the Foregate Street Station bridge.

‘PIERPOINT PEONY’

An electric box that represents Catt as an artist. She loves intricate detail juxtaposed with simplicity and feels that this design really shows that. Peonies are her favourite flower and is a real staple in her work, window art or print. The name is also so fitting as it is positioned where Foregate Street and Pierpoint meet.

‘DIGGY DOGS’

Catt’s interactive electric box is based by the riverside of Worcester, just outside the Diglis House Hotel. This electric box encourages dog walkers to get involved with a little fun by getting their dog to “SIT”, SNAP a photo to then SHARE on social media using the hashtag

‘HELPING HIVE’

Catt has worked alongside The Hive, Worcester to design this fingerpost.

Not only do the bees on the post represent the hard work and community of The Hive, but the post also shows golden honeycomb shapes each stating the different departments The Hive is made up of.

‘DAPPER DELPHINIUMS’

Catt has recently been commissioned to design and create a fingerpost in celebration of King Charles’ Coronation, which is to be held at the beginning of May. The bottom is filled with blue delphiniums which are The King’s favourite flowers, and the centre of the post is featured with details of the coronation. The top includes hints of gold which is a nod to the crown.

Alongside this fingerpost, Catt has also designed a unique stamp which has been installed as window art throughout Worcester City Centre.

‘ABIDING ANTIQUE’

Catt’s inspiration for this particular fingerpost was a pair of antique Royal Worcester Porcelain ovoid vases from 1903. Due to the location of the fingerpost, outside of Worcester’s antique shop Bygones, Catt wanted this post to set a reminder of the history and heritage of Worcester.
